Foundation in the United States American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society represents charitable organizations in the United States that are dedicated to one specific goal. In this case we are talking about the fight against cancer. This organization provides funding for research into cancer prevention and invests in the optimization of patient research, the reduction of suffering and effective treatment.

The foundation is one of the oldest. It was founded in 1913 by 15 doctors and businessmen from New York City. The original name “American Cancer Society” was changed to the modern name in 1945.

One of the main events the foundation organizes to raise awareness and funds is the Relay for Life. Now students, the military, active citizens of the United States, as well as residents of 21 countries around the world who have adopted such an interesting experience (a distant analogue of the Relay can be called the Kiev “Run under the chestnuts”) hold their relay races.

For the first time, the Relay for Life was conducted by surgeon Gordy Klatt, who ran 24 hours to raise money for the foundation.
